***CSI - Color Stories Inspiration Case File 222***

Hi All

Its time for a new Case File, the 2nd Case File of 2017 and its a beauty! I loved the colours in this scheme, this layout just flew together!

                                                                        Here's my layout....

For this months Case Files we have some amazing sponsors generously providing prizes for our challenges.

As you an see Swirlydoos Kit Club has teamed up with CSI this month…so much fun!

I am currently on the Swirlydoos Design Team so I have combined this Case File with products from the present and previous Swirlydoos kits.

All 5 colours from the scheme were used.
My evidence used was:
* floral patterns
* snowflakes/ stars
* jewels/ pearls
* something fuzzy
* decorative border
* fabric, ribbon,
* flowers/ leaves
* glitter

My Testimony used was:

* Document something about winter

This photo was taken just before Christmas 2016, the beginning of the UK winter.
My Mum, daughter  Holly and myself took our dog Evie for her walk on a very foggy day where we could hardly see anything! It was lovely to have my Mum with us as we don't get to be able to walk the dog together very often as they live away from us.
My Journaling is on the back of the tag hanging in the bottom right of my layout.

HERE ARE SOME CLOSE UPS

I added pearls to my BFS Chippie & around the layout.

The Bobunny  Winter Wishes Snowflake die cuts are from the latest Swirlydoos Kit.
Ribbon bling layered on top of the crocheted velvet lace.

I altered my photo to black and  white to fit the page better together with a range of material and paper flowers.

I used pale powder blue Candi Core.

The tag with the Distress Grit paste stencilling in the background

The reverse side of the tag with my journaling.

The Queen & Co Stick Em's leaves covered in the Silver Halo glitter. This had the 'blue' colour init too.

The chippie embossed with BFS Imagine Ink embossing powder Mushroom.

***Swirlydoos December 'Vintage Winter' Kit reveal***

Hi ladies!

Here we are with the gorgeous Swirlydoos Kit Club December Kit 'Vintage Winter'! I loved this one! Beautiful papers from BoBunny, this collection Winter Wishes could be used as a Christmas/winter paper collection but equally could be sneaked into non Christmas/winter layouts fairly easily too! We also had a very fun Technique kit this month, Prima IOD moulds and Ice resin. I've never used Ice resin before so this was a fun experiment! You can see what I did with my Ice Resin mould pieces later in the post.

This kit is available NOW in the Swirlydoos Store while stock lasts - go get yours!

So now for my projects created with this kit!

First up I have my Sketch challenge layout. This is one of the challenges that can be found on the Swirlydoos Forum under the challenges thread.

Here is the December sketch

I went with the pink colours of the kit for this LO. I did add couple of pink glittered roses from my stash just to finish it off. The chippie I painted with gesso and then added the Glitter Snow on top. the rusty bells were tied up on string to get that whimsical feel from the sketch.  I inked my edges with some Distress ink Frayed Burlap to give a bit of an antique/vintage feel to the piece. I used the stencil from the mediums Add on (loved that) and then I have painted with Shimmerz Inklingz First Blush to give the pink sheen background. My photo I altered to get that vintage feel.

Next up is my layout for the December All That Flutters challenge. This challenge can also be found on the Swirlydoos Forum challenges thread.

I had GREAT fun creating this one! My main objective with this one was to make SNOW!
I used the 3D balls, gluing them with gel medium to create the height of the snow and then covered it with the Glitter Snow to create my 'drifts'. The Creative Embellishment snowflake chippies were covered with the Whispers glitter embossing powder, which is super sparkly! Again a little inking with frayed burlap on the Christmas tree and girl just to 'bring them out' a little. This photo was taken in a completely snow free zone but from this layout you would never know!

                                  This photo shows the popped up layers of the Christmas trees.

Another Christmas layout.

I did some fussy cutting with this one, the girls with lanterns and peg piece and the snow scene snowflake were fussy cut. I tore the pink paper back to create the rolled opening. I used the Echo Park stencil again and painted the cut up pieces of the Prima felt gates with the Viva silver paint from the Mediums kit. The Poinsettia flowers were from my stash but are Prima.

Now for a non- Christmas layout.
This LO just by adding summery flowers and embellishments works really well for  fresh feel.

I used torn paper layers to create the background and the larger pieces from the BoBunny ephemera collection to mat the photo. I used the Prima lace/bling flourish, the brads and the Metal trinkets with Alphas from the kit to embellish this. I also used one of the keys which I painted (actually DD painted it - I will get in trouble if I don't mention that!) with pink acrylic paint. The flowers and leaves came from my stash.

And now for the Technique Kit!

This is a magnetic Tag card. The tag is attached to the card with magnets allowing the recipient to be able to keep the tag as a keepsake / fridge magnet.

There is a SNAPGUIDE TUTORIAL to show you how I made this project, which can be found here

I did a matching pair of cards. The second one doesn't have the magnets, the tag is stuck to the card.

I used two different pieces from the Prima IOD moulds made with the Ice Resin for these cards. I added a tiny amount of a pale coloured Perfect Pearls Mica powder to give the Ice resin pieces a cloudy look. Then I altered them once they were dry. To see how I did that visit the Snapguide Tutorial. The photo below shows the crackled silver paint in the middle and the opal blue paint around the edge.

Lastly Christmas Decorations.

These gorgeous silver snowflake decorations came in the main kit and the embellishment kit.
I altered mine with flowers and embellishments from the kit and added some re berries from a previous Swirlydoos kit to finish them off and add a spark of colour!

Don't forget.....

**The RR (Round Robin) Challenge at Swirlydoos Kit Club**

Hello all!

The RR (Round Robin) challenge is back this month! Yay!

Here is how it works,  the first person creates their layout based on the theme and twist and posts it on the due date. The next person on the team “lifts” or uses the first layout as a blue print to create their layout and so on. So each person “lifts” the person before them. There are four people to a team to take us through the month with each person getting a week to create their masterpiece.
This month we have 3 teams. More details on the Swirlydoos Forums HERE

The topic this month is 'NEW BEGINNINGS'

Here's my layout for TEAM 3 WEEK 1

My new beginning is really for Holly (DD). She has had a torrid time the last few years suffering with Acute Tonsillitis bringing on her asthma as well, which has led to a lot of time off school and hospital visits and generally being really ill a lot. In December as many of you know, she finally had her tonsils out, which was equally traumatic! So now we are looking forward to a new start this year with NO tonsillitis! This photo is of Holly in hospital on the evening she had her tonsils out after two trips into the theatre! She looks remarkable bright, bless her!

I used a lot of the Swirlydoos December kit on this layout. The papers, the larger blue flowers and the beaded blue flower. I used mixed media, TH Distress Grit Paste stencilling, pink acrylic paint, pink Art Sugar on the hearts, gesso on the chippie, and stamping with Black Soot distress Ink in the background. There is metal on the beaded blue flower. Lots of flowers, chipboard and bling with the sequins and crystals for a Swirly style LO!

**CSI - color stories inspiration Case File 221**

Happy New Year everyone!!!

CSI - color stories inspiration challenge site are celebrating their 5th birthday today!!!

5 years worth of Case Files keeping us all busy and stretching our creative minds and preserving all those memories!

I have enjoyed doing many of these case files and hope that CSI continues for many years to come!

So here is our celebratory Major Case File #221 with sketch.

Here is how I solved the Case File!

I turned the sketch round by 90°.

My Evidence used:

* tiny dots, grid
* triangles, circles
* string, banners
* different coloured letter stickers

My Testimony used.

* document a birthday

I used the party banners from the Simple Stories chipboard stickers.
Some of the balloons have a dotty grid on them and I have drawn strings on them with a black pen.

This banner also has the different coloured letter stickers on it,

Holly's name was created with stamps coloured in with distress markers.

My photos are slightly overlapped unlike the sketch.
The banner has triangle shapes.
The balloons and the banners I lined with a thicker black pen to make them 'pop' off the layout.

It was Holly's (DD) 8th birthday in December, so this layout was about her birthday.
We celebrated her birthday with Granny & Grandad and had a lovely Christmas roast carvery dinner at Toby Carvery.
The next day my poor girl had to go into hospital to have her tonsils out!

Products used on this layout:

Paper

Kaisercraft: Save the Date: Balloons
Three Bugs in a Rug: Snow Much Fun: Mittens
Echo Park: Here & Now
Scrap Within Reach: Afternoon Tea Collection

Other

Tim Holtz: Distress Markers: Worn Lipstick
                                                 : Shabby Shutters
Paper Artsy: Jofy Stamps: 21 Alphabet
Simple Stories: Let's Party: Chipboard Stickers
Black Promarker pen
Pigma Micron 02 Archival Ink Pen Black
Ranger: Enamel Accents White

I really enjoyed doing this layout! Hope you like it!

Happy New Year to you !!! ðŸŽ‰ðŸŽ‰ðŸŽ‰
